They asked me once to which movie director I would, if I were a rich movie producer, provide money without a second of hesitation, no matter how disgustingly high the amount of requred money was. I answered: 'To Steven Spielberg'. Not because I consider him a genius in directing - I nevertheless leave that flattering title to John Ford and Stanley Kubrick - but because I've never seen someone have that much fun making movies. Steven Spielberg posseses a childish enthusiasm in approaching the stories that come to life before our eyes on a silver screen, which can particularly be seen in his 1980's movies, such as the excellent E.T. and utterly entertanning trilogy of a fictious character who made wonders for the popularizatoin of otherwise not too glamourous archeology, Indiana Jones.
Precisely while making the latter, Spielberg was told on numerous occasions that the adventures of an archeologist with a hat and a whip irresistingly reminded them of those by the protagonist of comics Tintin's Adventures by the late Belgian comic creator Georges Remi known under his pseudonym Herge. That remark triggered a creative curiosity in him so he decided to take some time and read all comics about Tintin. And then already, sometime in mid 1980's, an idea occured - he was going to make a movie about Tintin. Today that idea has become a reality.
